Sesame Crusted Tofu with Creamy Peanut Tahini Sauce

Paired with a rich and nutty peanut tahini sauce, it’s the perfect combination of crispy, creamy, and crave-worthy. Ingredients

For the Sauce:

¼ cup tahini

¼ cup creamy peanut butter

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp maple syrup

1½ tbsp coconut aminos

1 tsp ginger paste

1 tsp garlic paste

½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Kosher salt, to taste

Water to thin (as needed)


For the Tofu:

¼ cup of the prepared peanut tahini sauce

1 tbsp cornstarch

14 oz extra-firm tofu

Black sesame seeds

White sesame seeds

Kosher salt

Red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)


Method:

Press the tofu: Start by pressing as much water as possible from the tofu using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. This step is key for getting that golden, crispy texture.

Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients until smooth and creamy. Add a splash of water if needed to thin it out to your desired consistency.

Coat the tofu: Cut the tofu into even cubes or slabs. In a bowl, toss the tofu with the cornstarch and a generous coating of both black and white sesame seeds. Season with a pinch of salt and red pepper flakes.

Bake: Place the tofu pieces on a lined baking tray. Bake at 200°C (390°F) for about 25 minutes, or until the tofu is golden and crispy on the edges.

Serve: Plate it up with your choice of rice, veggies, and a drizzle (or generous pour) of that dreamy sauce.
