Coffee Protein Smoothie

Coffee Protein Smoothie

A creamy, chocolatey coffee smoothie with a boost of protein and nourishing ingredients to power your day.

A better way to do your morning coffee

If your morning usually starts with coffee and ends with you wondering when you will get around to breakfast, this one makes both a little easier.

This Coffee Protein Smoothie blends chilled espresso or cold brew with cacao, banana, almond butter, Greek yoghurt and vanilla protein powder for a breakfast that is creamy, chocolatey and genuinely satisfying. Rolled oats and hemp seeds add a little more substance, while cinnamon brings everything together.

It takes 5 minutes, uses one blender and is easy to take with you when the morning gets busy.

Why this smoothie works for breakfast

A coffee on its own might get you moving, but it is not much of a breakfast. This smoothie turns that familiar morning ritual into something more substantial without adding extra prep to your day.

The Greek yoghurt and protein powder bring the protein, banana and oats give the smoothie body, and almond butter adds richness that makes it taste more like a proper chocolate-coffee shake than a rushed breakfast.

And because the coffee is already in the blender, you are not juggling breakfast in one hand and a takeaway cup in the other.

Your questions, answered

Can I make this without espresso?
Yes. Cold brew works perfectly and keeps the smoothie smooth and chilled. Use whichever coffee you already enjoy drinking.

Do I need to freeze the banana?
You can use a fresh banana, but frozen banana gives the smoothie a thicker, creamier texture and helps keep it cold without relying on too much ice.

Can I make it thicker?
Use a little less almond milk or add a few extra ice cubes. For a thinner smoothie, add almond milk a splash at a time until it is exactly how you like it.

Can I use a different protein powder?
Vanilla keeps the coffee and cacao flavours balanced, but chocolate protein powder will make it even richer. Different powders can change the thickness, so adjust the almond milk if needed.

Can I prep it ahead?
For the best texture, blend it fresh. To make mornings faster, portion the banana, oats, hemp seeds, cacao and cinnamon together the night before, then add the chilled ingredients and blend in the morning.
