Apple Pie Protein Porridge
This Apple Pie Porridge is the perfect blend of creamy, crunchy, and sweet, with the comforting hint of cinnamon that makes it taste like an apple pie. Not only does it taste delicious, but it’s packed with protein and fiber from the quinoa and seeds, giving you a great start to your day.
This porridge is creamy, comforting, and surprisingly easy to make. With a base of quinoa and oats, plus nutritious add-ins like chia seeds, hemp seeds, and flaxseed meal, it’s a breakfast that will keep you full and energized.
Ingredients:
42.5g quinoa (uncooked)
40.5g rolled oats
240ml almond milk
240ml water
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp flaxseed meal
50g red apple (Pink Lady or Royal Gala), sliced
Method:
1. In a small pot, mix the oats, quinoa, almond milk, water, and ground cinnamon.
2. Stir together and heat the mixture over high heat until it begins to boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the oats are soft and the porridge is creamy.
3. Remove from heat and stir in the maple syrup, hemp seeds, chia seeds, and flaxseed meal. If the porridge has thickened up too much, add a splash more milk for a creamier consistency.
4. Slice the red apple and layer it on top, with a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra warmth.
