5 ways to embrace change and shift with life
A lot of the time, changes in life feel scary or uncomfortable. Most people will say that they don’t like change - but the reality is, life is always changing!
You will go through many shifts and changes through life. Some day to day that don’t feel so noticeable and some big life changes that feel big and can bring with them a sense of identity shift and a move into a new sense of ‘self’.
If you think about your life right now and then think back to 12 months ago, what do you notice has changed or feels different? Now think back to 3 years ago. Even 5 years ago.
There are so many shifts and changes day to day that sometimes you don’t even realise them until you take the opportunity to reflect. You might notice small changes like:
- An updated morning or evening routine
- Diet and lifestyle changes
- Shifts in habits and routines - how often you eat out, the amount of times you drink alcohol, committing to a program like Transform etc.
And big changes with things like:
- Ebbs and flows with friendships
- Shifts in your relationship
- A change in job role or career
- Starting or expanding your family
- Moving house or suburb
Especially with these big changes, there are things you can do to focus on your sense of self which will help you to feel more comfortable (even with the uncomfortable) and confident within yourself.

Make a list of the things that have changed in the last year, 3 years and 5 years.
Thinking about the big and the small changes - reflecting back, what do you notice? Sit down with a pen and paper and write out a list. This can be a beneficial practice because it helps your brain to get on board with the idea that even if you ‘don’t like change’ that things are always changing, often without you even noticing or realising.
You may also notice that upon reflection, some of these changes actually feel really good. -
Consider if there is anything you are actively working on changing or progressing right now.
Is there anything that comes to mind that you would like to achieve? Do you have a goal that you would like to set for yourself? You can read this blog post here to learn more about setting health and fitness goals for yourself

Remember change is normal, is always happening and is necessary.
Sometimes the best thing that you can do is to bring in acceptance. If the reality is that life is ever-evolving, what would it look like for you to embrace that rather than resist it?
Is there any practices that you could bring in or mindset shifts that will help to remind you of this?

Be okay with it feeling uncomfortable sometimes.
As much as we enjoy feeling the ‘good’ emotions, another reality is that you have your spectrum of emotions for a reason. That means there are going to be things that happen in life, especially when considering change, that make you feel uncomfortable. The main reason for this is because you are actively choosing to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Think about a previous change you have made: committing to the Transform program, changing jobs, moving house, friendship shifts, deciding to make an appointment with a Coach or Therapist - there’s a good chance that there was a point that you were going back and forth on this decision. Getting more comfortable with the idea of the uncomfortable.
Just because things feel hard sometimes doesn’t mean it’s the wrong decision.
