They said it was easy, but then I tried it!

You know the saying 'never judge a book by it's cover'... well same goes for fitness challenges too!

As someone who's been in the gym scene for almost 5 years, I consider myself rather experienced and knowledgable when it comes to training. Being in the gym most days of the week for that long, having tried every training style and every diet - you learn what styles of training work for you and which ones, well... don't.

When a friend of mine referred me onto the Fitazfk New Year Better You Challenge, I'll admit I was very hesitant to jump on board and give it a go. My initial reaction to viewing the challenge was that it looked as if it were designed for beginners who ideally workout from home - short 18 minute workouts, simple exercises.

Despite hearing only good things about the challenge, I was still convinced I wouldn't enjoy it or see the results I wanted and refused to take part in it. After much convincing you can't knock something until you try it, I was inclined to give it a go!

First things first, purchase the New Year Better You Challenge and download the Fitazfk 2.0 App from the App Store. Next on the agenda - get set up on the app! Luckily the app allows you to tailor the challenge to an intensity that meets your capabilities, for me this meant selecting the 'expert level'- 18 minutes of work following a 40 seconds on, 20 seconds off format for each exercise.

Once all set up, I was ready to hit the gym and take the app for a test run! 18 minutes and a whole lot of sweat later... I found myself swallowing my words!

Personally I never would've thought an 18 minute long workout would be effective to see results, turns out they definitely can be when performed at maximum effort and completed correctly.

The workout was fast paced with minimal rest, creating the feeling you're working at max effort & helping to break a sweat. This method was combined with the perfect mix of lower body and upper body focused exercises to avoid overloading one muscle and fatiguing it, causing you to burnout at the beginning of the workout and struggle to complete it.

Overall I think the New Year Better You Challenge and Fitazfk App are two amazing products perfect for both a fitness newbie or gym junkie. The workouts are what you make them, with the feature to adjust the intensity based on your personal fitness levels. I highly recommend both of these products and suggest everyone try for themselves!
